This privacy policy covers Clackulator on Android (package com.clackulator) and on iPhone and iPad (bundle ID com.coroutinelab.clackulator). The app is developed by PhomoTech and published by CoroutineLab ("we", "us"). Clackulator is a tactile, retro calculator modeled after classic cash registers and mechanical slot machines — complete with heavy keypresses, a pull lever for equals, spinning answer reels, and a printed paper receipt for every sum.
This policy explains what data the app collects, why, where it goes, and your rights. We wrote it in plain language so it is easy to understand.
The short version
- Your calculations, mathematical formulas, equations, theme preferences, and printed receipt logs stay on your phone.
- We never ask for your name, email, or phone number, and we never sell your data.
- We use PostHog for privacy-friendly analytics to track app usage, feature engagement, and performance. All analytics events are attached to a random anonymous app ID rather than to you personally.
- Paid subscriptions and in-app purchases are handled securely through Google Play Billing or the Apple App Store, together with Superwall. We never see or hold your payment card details.
What stays on your phone
Clackulator keeps the following data strictly on your device:
- All math calculations, numbers, formulas, and arithmetic operations.
- Your calculation history and virtual printed receipt tape log.
- Your preferred app settings, sound volume, haptic feedback toggles, and custom machine skin/theme selections.
None of your calculations, equations, or printed receipt contents ever leave your phone or get transmitted to our servers.
What leaves your phone
To help us run, maintain, and improve Clackulator, limited technical data is transmitted to trusted third-party services. This data is linked to an anonymous random app ID created on your device and never to your real name or personal identity.
- Analytics (PostHog): We collect basic interaction events: opening, backgrounding, installing and updating the app; which screen is open; ringing up a calculation (whether the lever was used and whether a jackpot paid out, never the numbers); finishing onboarding; sharing, saving or copying a receipt; submitting the daily challenge (whether the target was hit, the number of steps and the seconds taken); and which paywall was opened and whether Pro was purchased. PostHog also receives the device model, operating system version, app version, and the IP address that the connection comes from. Analytics data is stored on secure servers and helps us fix bugs and refine the mechanical feel of the app.
- Subscriptions & Purchases (Google Play Billing, Apple App Store and Superwall): If you purchase a subscription or unlock premium machine themes and features, Google Play (on Android) or Apple (on iPhone and iPad) handles payment processing. Superwall displays subscription screens and processes purchase entitlement status so your app can unlock paid features. See below for details.
- Google Play Services (Android only): Checks for app updates and displays optional in-app rating prompts.
Subscriptions and payments
Paid subscriptions for Clackulator are sold through Google Play on Android and through the Apple App Store on iPhone and iPad. Google or Apple processes all payments under its own privacy policy, and we never receive or see your card or bank details. Superwall, our subscription provider, receives subscription event notifications, purchase states, and basic device metrics to activate Premium features and evaluate subscription offers.
Permissions and why we ask
- Vibration / Haptic Feedback: Used to create the realistic, heavy tactile keypresses and lever pull effects.
- Audio Settings: Used to play mechanical key clacks, reel spinning, and cash register bell sounds locally.
- Internet Access: Required strictly for checking subscription status with Google Play or the App Store and Superwall, and for sending anonymous usage analytics to PostHog.
Clackulator does not ask for or access sensitive permissions such as your contacts, camera, microphone, precise location, or device storage. On iPhone and iPad, the only permission Clackulator asks for is permission to add photos, and only when you choose to save a receipt image to your photo library. The app cannot read your existing photos.
Analytics
Anonymous analytics events help us understand which features users enjoy. Clackulator does not use session recording and does not send crash reports. Calculation values, equation inputs, totals, shop names, and receipt text are never included in analytics.
Backups
If standard Android backup is enabled on your phone, Android may include Clackulator's local settings and receipt history in your Google account backup so you can restore them on a new device. This process is managed directly by Google and can be configured in Android Settings. On iPhone and iPad, the same local data can be included in your iCloud or computer backup, which Apple manages and you control in iOS Settings.
Your choices
- Clear your on-device calculation history and receipts at any time within the app or by clearing app data in Android Settings (on iPhone and iPad, delete the app).
- Manage or cancel your paid subscriptions at any time via Google Play → Payments & subscriptions on Android, or Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iPhone and iPad.
- Uninstalling the app removes all local calculation history and settings from your device.
How long we keep data
On-device data remains on your phone until you clear it or uninstall the app. Anonymous analytics data on PostHog is retained only as long as necessary for app operational analysis and no longer than 24 months. Customer support inquiries are kept until resolved.
Deleting your data and your rights
Uninstalling the app or clearing storage in Android Settings completely wipes all calculation data and receipt logs from your device. If you wish to request access to or deletion of any anonymous telemetry linked to your app instance, or if you have privacy concerns, contact us at admin@coroutinelab.com. Depending on your jurisdiction (such as the EU/EEA, UK, or California), you may have specific statutory rights regarding data portability, access, or restriction.
Children
Clackulator is a general audience calculator tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Security
All network communication (such as subscription validation and analytics transmission) uses secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to analytics dashboards and operational systems is strictly restricted to authorized PhomoTech / CoroutineLab team members.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Clackulator after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
